randomness

I'm not really sure where the last three weeks have gone, it has been rather a busy time in our little house.
But school holidays are only around the corner and we will be able to slow down a little then.
So here is a little bit or randomness that has been going on....


Suse from Pea Soup and I have our own swap happening....

I made these stitch markers (eight blue and four green) for her and in return the lovely Suse is sending me some of her beautifully hand dyed yarn.
Personally I think I'm getting the better end of this deal so I hope she likes the stitch markers.


Miss Ella is into making her own after school snacks at the moment....

and jam is at the top of her list.


We seem to be eating rather a lot of eggs, especally for breakfast....

Phil brings home these lovely coloured eggs from Kapiti.
I like their nice bright yellow yokes.


We have been eating out of the veggie garden too....

this is the last broccoli.
They have been very yummy, but I must remember to plant seedlings every few weeks because now we will have to wait a while for more.


I have been spending quite a bit of time here....

now that Oliver is at kindy two mornings a week, I can spend a little time on myself.

my new distraction

Way back in September of last year I was working on crocheting this ripple blanket for Ella...

I am using Zhivago and love how soft and warm it is.
However the blanket has become very very heavy and skinner at one end.
So the understanding husband and I ripped it.


And I have decided to totally copy Alicia's (Posie Gets Cozy) cloister blanket, which I just love and can't seem to get out of my head!

Now I know that coping others peoples work is really really bad.
But I figure that my coloures are different, it won't be as big, it is to keep my five year old warm at night, and it's not for sale so there is no profit to be made other than a kiss and hug from Button.
So I'm sure Alicia won't mind.

The weather has turned nasty, although it is very very wet it is quite warm.
And we have a swimming pool developing in the front lawn.
Which means no getting the garden sorted, oh well how sad I will just have to knit instead!

For a wee Easter gift I knitted the little sister a Peasant Cap.
Modelled here by the ever so lovely Button!

I used the lovely Panda crepe, from this post.
And I really love the way it turned out.
This is a interesting pattern to knit up, as their are three pieces to the hat.
Which I liked as I usually find hats very boring to knit.

Other thing made at Easter were these :

Tee-pee climbers for Nanna.
They were her birthday present from the muchkins.
Who were supposed to help make them, but decided they had better things to do!

If the weather ever clears up I will try and get some pics of our new gardens progress.
Until then it's all tea drinking and knitting!

When mail is too big to fit in our letter box the Postie leaves a note telling you to go here...

So at lunch time with I bolted down to the local Post Shop to collect a brown package.
Said package had traveled a long way and has also been throughly checked...

And I have to admit that I was a tad worried that I would find nothing inside!

So I was so very pleased to find this...

Can you see my lovely wee prize...

Isn't he the most adorable wee Reindeer ever!
Dasher was made by a very talented lady, not only is she a very clever crafter but also the best story teller ever.

more sewing

Here are the pictures of the Knitting Needle Roll I made for Miss Moore.

And I also painted and bejeweled a set of needles for her as well.

Now she has NO excuses for not knitting!

Last month I promised to show more of my sewing.
Now that Mum W and Miss Moore have had their birthdays and received their gifts, I can now share more of what I made.

Knitting needle rolls, of course!

This is Mum's, made from recycled jeans and a old bed spread.

Sewing straight lines for the pockets was just too hard, so I didn't even try.
I just doubled up the stitch lines and made a feature out of them.

The pattern I used is from "Midnight Knitter", you can find it here.
I modified mine slightly, and made the needle pockets higher instead of using a ribbon through the center.

True to form I took about a million photos and still have to sort out Miss Moore's.
So you will have to wait till tomorrow for hers!

Make collage faces using cuttings from old magazines!

(Ella's is the Blond, and Oliver's is the Brunette)

While enjoying a nice pot of refreshing tea!

my button fairy is very helpfull!

The sewing machine has been getting a serious work out just of late.
Making tiny fairy and Pixie sized bunting!

Which was then winded onto card.
The Button Fairy helped!

Small boxes were also painted.
Again the Button fairy helped!

Lables were made and attached.
Still the Button fairy helped!

And stuffed with goodies.
By... you guessed it the Button fairy!

While I downed lots of hot fresh tea.
For tomorrow will be a very big day!
