his last!

What a full on week we have had!
Friday was our little lads very last day at kindergarten.

First thing in the morning we made a birthday hat and play dough cupcake, with candles.
With his best little buddy helping.

All the kindy kids sung "Happy Birthday" and "Happy School Days".
And he loved being the center of attention!

Ollie had a very lovely last day, and this time I did not sit in the corner crying!
So our darling laddie, "Happy Last Kindy Day".
Just a couple of sleeps and it is off to school for you.

corsage

Oliver invited his girlfriend Bella (my future daughter in-law) to the kindy disco last night.
He took her a corsage that we made from stuff out of the veggie garden.

They both had a wonderful time.
Although Oliver needs lessons on how to look after his date a little better.
When we arrived he went in one direction and Bella in another.
They did meet up to have dinner together and a dance.
So the evening wasn’t a total bust.

her last!

Today was our darling Buttons ( aka - Ella ) very last day at kindergarten.

So this morning we made a birthday hat and play dough cupcake, with candles.

All the kindy kids sung "Happy Birthday" and "Happy School Days".
So of course she thinks today is her birthday.

( It is so confusing having a birthday on Christmas Day!
Especially when your party is in November and very last day of kindy in December. )

She had a very lovely last day, even though I sat in a corner crying!

So my darling wee one, "Happy Last Kindy Day".
Just a short holiday and then my almost "Five year old" it will be off to school with you.
With no doubt more tears from Mum!

nearly snow

Last night at midnight the weather was wild.
We had a huge thunder and lightening storm!

It was incredible, the thunder rolled across the sky for ages.

And was so loud that our windows rattled!

And we had a wee Button sleeping in our bed.

As for the boy, he slept through it!

Then just as we were leaving for kindy this morning, there was a big hail storm.

We ran outside and caught some in a container, then the kids ate it!

I know this picture is dark, (and I have lightened it) but it was very dark this morning.
Yesterday was a complete contrast, beautiful and sunny!

It was my turn as parent helper at kindy, so I took along our chocolate molds (we don't use these ones for chocolate).

We full them up with old crayons and make new fun shaped ones!
The kids (especially the boys) had a great time busting up the crayons with little people sized hammers.
Then we filled up the molds and popped them in the oven to bake.
Once the crayons have melted, the molds go into the freezer to cool.

Then the kids popped out their new crayons!
They look great, too good in fact, as some of the kids tried to eat them!
(funnily enough it wasn't the girls that tried and those boys were the ones that smashed up the crayons to begin with)

But I was silly and forgot to take the camera, so these pictures are from yesterday afternoon at home.

There were some left over raw crayons and Ella brought them home to finish here.
We have made these before to freshen up our old crayons.
And I have brought brand new ones just to melt for little peoples presents!

Those kindy kids were full on, I didn't even have time for a cup of tea.
I had three once we were home though!

play dough dinner?

Ella is really into Kindergarten right now.
Her kindy is next to a primary school, and during the week the school kids come over to read stories and help the little kids with hand writing.
Also the kindy kids go once a week to the schools library, which according to Ella is her "favourite" thing to do!

She also enjoys very much to play with play dough.
Most likely because even though she has a large play dough collection at home, it is not very often brought out!

Why, you ask? Because I really really do not like play dough!
Especially when you find it mushed into the furniture and in your bed!
(Thanks very much Oliver James!)

So kindy play dough is a wonderful treat!
And making semi anatomically correct people, and then making them dinner is what has been happening this week!

Perhaps Ella is practicing her cooking skills for her weekend sleep over......

I hope you enjoy play dough for dinner Aunty Toni!!!

I wonder how and with what she will try to make you a cup of Tea?
