i heart yarn!

As much as I LOVE yarn, all types of yarn.
With the endless array of colours and possibilities, I am however finding it hard to love these brown balls!



They are 10ply Wool, very warm, quite soft and the hanks were on sale!
I had intended to knit a duffel coat for the Boy!
But the pattern bombed, and so the ripping began.
I hate ripping; I always feel that nothing has been achieved.
And to top it off I found myself at a bit of a loss as to what these brown balls would be good for?

Then while I was able to have a - very few and far between, no children allowed little weekend holiday - I saw this very nice skirt, just hanging out in front of a tiny shop.

So now that the brown balls have a purpose, I have been working on a skirt for Ella.
(Sorry Oliver you have lucked out on the knitting this time!)
But even now that the skirt is finished, I am still finding it hard to love!

Perhaps it will look better on, with some colorful stripy tights
And through the steam of a hot cup of Tea?

wanganui to party!

On the weekend we all (including Milly) went to Wanganui for a birthday party!



Great - Nana Bartlett celebrated her 93rd year!



We hope she had a wonderful time.
Eating good food, sipping Tea, and watching a collection of kids, grand-kids and great-grand-kids!

Milly is wondering why she is not allowed a piece of cake!

While we were there we also took the kids and Nanna on a small adventure into the Durie Hill Tunnel and up The War Memorial Tower.

I was impressed, the kids walked up all 173 steps on their own.

Oliver usually walks 5 before claiming "I have wittle legs, carry me!"

I did not however have to drag myself all that way, as we were heading in, a friend (from a hundred years ago) and her son were on their way out.
The timing could not have been more perfect! It was great to see her again and meet her lovely lad!

Upon the adventures return, I was informed by Ella that there was "a amazing look" at the top. And from the photo she took (far right above) I believe her!

Once the kids had their fill of fresh air, and Nanna thought she would need a stretcher, carried by spunky army lads to get back to the car, we headed back to her place for a nice hot cup of Tea!

little sister knits!

My little sister is a fantastic knitter.

And can whip things up rather quickly, especially when they are for little people!

She has knitted a few things for the Boy now.
I love them, and Oliver even likes to were them.

Which is a bonus seeing how he usually tries to get his clothes off!

But I don’t yet know how to use Flicker mosaic maker, so I just cut and pasted the images into Microsoft Paint.
And yes I did cheat, I went in further and used pictures from other pages!

quick knits!

This week has been a busy one for knitting gifts, and knitting lessons!

Tuesday night was a very important date, because Miss Moore cast on for the first time in about 20 years!!
It was a fantastic event, between watching Corro, the new heat pump blowing loudly, the baby crying very loudly, and the lovely husband to be, rolling his eyes heavenward.
I was so very proud when my ears heard "Just let me finish this row!" through the chaos.
Miss Moore had a great night and I believe finished up at about midnight, which is a sterling first effort!

Look out husband to be, Tuesday knitting nights might just have to become a regular thing!!


This wee blue puppy arrived during the week.
He is for a little big boy birthday present.

Much to Oliver's disappointment, he is quite fond of him and insists that "Willim" needs a friend.
So I guess I had better knit another, we wouldn't want William to be lonely now would we!

I found this very cute puppy, and pattern from this very clever lady - karkovski - I love her work, is fab!
I have knitted a few puppies now, but only give them as gifts!

I also managed to finish this little set for the wee girl - Sarah.
We haven't met yet so I hope they fit!!!

All in all this week has been quite productive.
The weekend is about to get even more so.
Phil is installing a Smart-Vent, dvs type thing in the roof.
I cant wait! It will really make the house warmer this winter!

Now I off for a nice hot cuppa Tea to warm me up - it's very cold today!
